Daycare

Welcome to a typical day at The Howlin’ Hive, where your dogs happiness and well-being are our top priorities! Let’s take you through a day in the life of your dog at our day boarding.

DROP OFF: Your dog arrives at The Howlin’ Hive, greeted by our friendly staff members who are excited to see their furry friend. After a warm welcome and wellness check, your dog joins the morning playgroup, where they can socialize and burn off some energy with their friends.

As the morning play session continues, our caregivers keep a close eye on the dogs to ensure everyone is having a great time and playing safely. If any dog shows signs of needing a break, whether it’s for a quick drink of water or a moment to relax, our staff members are there to provide the necessary attention and care.

12:00 PM: It’s lunchtime! For dogs who stay with us during lunch hours, we offer a lunch break where they can enjoy a meal brought from home or one of our delicious, vet-approved meals. After enjoying their meal, dogs have some downtime to rest and digest before the afternoon activities begin.

The afternoon play session kicks off, with plenty of toys, games, and space for your dog to romp around and have fun. Throughout the session, our caregivers monitor the dogs closely, intervening as needed to ensure a safe and enjoyable play experience for everyone.

As the day draws to a close, your dog may enjoy some quiet time in our relaxation area, where they can unwind and recharge before heading home. Our caregivers provide another wellness check to ensure you pup heads home healthy and clean! Our team members are on hand to provide cuddles, belly rubs, and any additional attention your dog may need.

PICK UP: It’s time to say goodbye for the day as you arrive to pick up your dog. Our staff members provide you with a detailed report of your dog’s activities and behavior throughout the day, including any special moments or observations. A custom report card can be sent home with your dog at pick up for an additional $5.00.

At The Howlin’ Hive, we strive to create a positive and enriching environment where your dog can thrive. With structured play sessions, regular breaks, and attentive care from our experienced staff, you can trust that your furry friend is in good hands while they’re with us.

Throughout their stay, your dog receives personalized attention, enrichment activities, and plenty of love and affection from our dedicated staff members. With a day full of fun, companionship, and comfort, your pup can’t wait to return to The Howlin’ Hive for their next overnight adventure!

Assessment Information

At our dog daycare facility, we prioritize the safety and well-being of every dog in our care, which is why we require all new dogs to undergo a thorough assessment before booking any services. We ask that you bring your dog for a minimum of 4 hours, although they are more than welcome to stay the full day. Here’s how the assessment process works:

Introduction and Evaluation: When you bring your dog in for their assessment, they’ll be greeted by one of our experienced staff members. We’ll start by introducing your dog to the facility and assessing their comfort level in the new environment.

Observation of Social Behavior: During the assessment, we’ll carefully observe your dog’s interactions with other dogs in our play area. We pay close attention to their body language, play style, and social cues to determine how they interact with different dogs and whether they’re comfortable in a group setting.

Assessment of Temperament: Our staff will also assess your dog’s temperament, including their level of confidence, response to commands, and ability to handle different situations. This helps us understand how your dog may behave in various social settings and whether they’ll thrive in our daycare environment.

Run Color Assignment: Based on the assessment results, your dog will be assigned a run color group: GREEN, YELLOW, or RED. Dogs in the green group are approved to play in our main pack with no restrictions, as they have demonstrated confident and appropriate social behavior. Dogs in the yellow group may have some limitations on their play, such as limited numbers of playmates or select friends they can interact with. Dogs in the red group require more individualized attention and must be supervised closely by a staff member during playtime. Dogs in red group will also be subject to a $15.00 run alone fee per day.

Feedback and Recommendations: After the assessment, we’ll provide you with feedback on your dog’s behavior and temperament, as well as any recommendations for their participation in our daycare program. We’ll discuss which run color group your dog has been assigned to and explain the reasons behind the decision.

Our priority is to ensure that every dog has a positive and safe experience at our facility, and our assessment process helps us achieve that goal. Whether your dog is a social butterfly or needs a bit more support, we’ll tailor our services to meet their needs and ensure they have a tail-wagging good time at our daycare!

A: There is an AUTHORIZED PICKUP section you can fill out while creating your profile. Please list any additional people who may be picking up your dog from us. If it is a one time thing, please list the contact name and phone number in your reservation notes.

A: Here’s a brief overview of each vaccine required for dogs at our facility and why they’re important:

Rabies Vaccine: The rabies vaccine is crucial for preventing one of the most serious and deadly viral diseases that affects mammals, including dogs and humans. Rabies is transmitted through the saliva of infected animals, typically through bites. Once symptoms appear, rabies is almost always fatal. Vaccinating dogs against rabies not only protects them from the disease but also helps prevent the spread of rabies to other animals and humans.

DHLPP Vaccine: The DHLPP vaccine is a combination vaccine that protects against several common canine diseases:

  • Distemper: A highly contagious viral disease that affects the respiratory, gastrointestinal, and nervous systems. It can be fatal, especially in puppies.
  • Hepatitis (Adenovirus Type 2): A viral disease that affects the liver and can lead to liver failure and death.
  • Leptospirosis: A bacterial disease that affects the liver and kidneys, often transmitted through contact with contaminated water or urine from infected animals. It can cause severe illness and even death.
  • Parvovirus: A highly contagious viral disease that primarily affects the gastrointestinal tract, causing severe vomiting and diarrhea. Parvovirus is
particularly dangerous for puppies and can be fatal if not treated promptly.
  • Parainfluenza: A respiratory virus that contributes to kennel cough and other respiratory infections in dogs.

The DHLPP vaccine helps protect dogs from these serious and potentially life-threatening diseases, reducing the risk of illness and improving overall canine health.

Bordetella Vaccine: Bordetella bronchiectasis is one of the primary causes of infectious canine tracheobronchitis, commonly known as kennel cough. Kennel cough is a highly contagious respiratory infection characterized by a persistent cough, sneezing, and nasal discharge. It spreads easily in environments where dogs are in close proximity to one another, such as dog daycare facilities, boarding kennels, and dog parks. The Bordetella vaccine helps reduce the severity of symptoms and the spread of kennel cough among dogs.

By ensuring that all dogs attending our daycare facility are vaccinated against rabies, DHLPP, and Bordetella, we’re not only protecting the health and safety of individual dogs but also promoting a safer and healthier environment for all dogs in our care.

If you take a more holistic approach to your canine care or prefer titer testing, we can still accept your dog for daycare, although you may be required to sign a safety waiver before
your dog attends our facility.
